Dr. Tuba Yıldız is a faculty member at Istanbul University, Faculty of Theology, Department of History of Islamic Sects. She received language training at the University of Jordan in 2011. In 2012, she earned a master's degree from Istanbul University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Islamic History and Arts; and in 2018, she earned her doctorate in the same department with her thesis titled “The Ottoman State's Sectarian Policies and Legal Practices in Mount Lebanon (1839-1914)”. During her doctoral studies, she was a visiting researcher at the American University of Beirut and Columbia University. Yıldız, author of the books The Law of Tradition, Ottoman Justice: The Druze and Maronites and Beirut, continues her research on sectarian groups in Lebanon in the context of identity-politics relations.
